Welcome! This site is the virtual Bookmark, published by the British Columbia Teacher-librarians' Association.
The interactive nature of this new site is to promote members' communication and strenghten support for school libraries worldwide. We hope we can help you build exemplary programs.
The state of our proud profession is often hectic but it is also exciting and can be very rewarding. We know everyone is busy adapting to the changing roles of school libraries so we want to assist you with these professional challenges.
The traditional print journal, theBookmark, has been a useful method. It is our goal to strengthen our journal's goal to effectively support members.
The VirtualBookmark is our attempt to make the a professional journal current and interactive. This online edition is more than a eBook- it is a web2.0 environment with professional content from your fellow colleagues. It is our plan to provide resources and promote participation with discussions, articles, media, lessons and library documents.
We hope you find this service valuable and welcome your input and participation!

The value of school libraries:
" We must all make the effort to ensure that our schools have the resources to provide the print and electronic sources, the technology, and the professional library staff to give all of our children the skills and the tools they need to navigate their way in this knowledge society. "
-- Roch Carrier, National Librarian of Canada
"What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it thinks about education." Harold Howe - former U.S. Commissioner of Education
